Lawyers protest killing of Allahabad advocate

Lawyers here abstained from work today protesting against the killing of an advocate in Allahabad district court.

The local Bar Council too in a statement released today condemned yesterday's killing.

Meanwhile, Congress workers stalled traffic at Govardhan Chowk here in protest of the incident.

The party's district president Abid Hussain attacked the Uttar Pradesh government, accusing the administration to turn a deaf ear to the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

An advocate was shot dead allegedly by a policeman inside the district court premises in Allahabad yesterday sparking violent protests from advocates who took to the streets, vandalizing and torching nearly a dozen vehicles.
