Press Trust of India Mumbai
Bombay High Court has asked Maharashtra Chief Secretary to hold a meeting with various organisations of Advocates in the state and prepare a comprehensive time-bound plan for providing facilities and renovation of the courts across the state.

A bench headed by Justice A M Khanvilkar passed the order last week on a PIL by New Bombay Advocates Welfare Association, which said that government was not expediting construction of court building at CBD Belapur in neighbouring Navi Mumbai.

The High Court, however, also asked the Chief Secretary to keep in mind the budgetary allocations and availability of Central aid for 'Gram Nyayalayas'.

The funds for the latter, in any case, will have to be utilised within the stipulated time, HC noted.

Additional government pleaders A B Vagyani and Nitin Deshpande submitted a chart disclosing the timeframe within which the construction of court building as well as 20 residential quarters for judicial officers at CBD Belapur would be completed.

The matter will be heard again next week.
