Judicial work in Cuttack was affected today when lawyers of the city did not attend courts to show solidarity with their Bhubaneswar counterparts.

The lawyers of the state capital have been agitating for about a week demanding action against policemen who allegedly assaulted one of their colleagues.

Responding to the call given by the Orissa High Court Bar Association, members of other bars of Cuttack also stayed away from their respective courts paralysing judicial work for the entire day.

The lawyers of the city are likely to join the courts from Thursday as the High Court lawyers have already decided to resume duty from that day.

"We have decided to attend courts from Thursday," said the High Court Bar Association secretary, Bidyadhar Pradhan.
