The strike by advocates of the Allahabad High Court in protest against the proposed creation of a bench in western UP entered its fourth day today even as a delegation of lawyers called on Union Law Minister Sadananda Gowda in New Delhi and apprised him of the concerns of the agitating legal practitioners.
"The three-member delegation of High Court Bar Association (HCBA) comprising president Rakesh Pande, former president B P Srivastava and former secretary Pranesh Dutt Tripathi met Law Minister Sadananda Gowda this morning.
"They were accompanied by our local MPs Shayma Charan Gupta (Allahabad), Keshav Prasad Maurya (Phulpur)," HCBA secretary C P Upadhyay told a meeting of lawyers.

"The Law Minister reportedly gave a sympathetic hearing to the delegation. However, we will continue our strike tomorrow when we are likely to joined by the members of the delegation who are scheduled to leave Delhi tonight," Upadhyay said.
The lawyers have been boycotting judicial work since Friday last when they went on a flash strike following some newspaper reports which suggested that the Centre was mooting a separate bench for western UP.
