The agitating lawyers of Orissa High Court on Wednesday decided to continue their cease work stir till Monday next as the Odisha Police is yet to arrest anyone in the lawyer-police faceoff here a fortnight ago.
Over 160 other bar associations of the state have also decided to continue the agitation till next week, said High Court Bar Association president Srikant Naik.
"The general body meeting of the High Court Bar Association decided to continue the state-wide lawyers agitation till Monday next" he said.
Naik said that before next Monday a delegation of the striking lawyers would meet the governor, chief minister and the state law minister and apprise them about their grievances.
The outcome of the scheduled meetings would be discussed by the general body to decide about the further course of action, Naik added.
The lawyers' agitation is on against the alleged assault of an advocate by policemen here on August 28. They are demanding the arrest of the errant policeman and a private person against whom FIRs had been registered.
