Two groups of lawyers today allegedly assaulted each other during a general body meeting which was called to fix the date for re-elections to the district bar council here.
The voting for these elections had taken place on March 24 but due to alleged irregularities and was rendered invalid, said Advocate Sudhir Tyagi, chairman of election committee, Ghaziabad Bar Council.
The previous election was deferred due to flouting of the norms of the Bar Council of India, he said.

He said a proposal was tabled in which the snatching of ballot boxes, tearing off the ballots and the fake polling was condemned.
The scuffle between the groups reached the extent of manhandling in which some bar members suffered injuries.
On getting the information, police reached the bar room in the court premises to maintain law and order by that time the injured advocates were rushed for treatment, Tyagi said.
Both the groups have filed counter-complaints at Kavi Nagar police station regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Bar Council Secretary Ramjeet Singh Yadav, on behalf of its President Anil Pratap Singh, wrote to the Ghaziabad Bar in which he directed that fresh polling be conducted under the guidance of chairman of election committee of the district.
