Laxman's condition still critical: hospital

The condition of eminent cartoonist R K Laxman who has been admitted to a hospital here after suffering a multi-organ failure and is on ventilator support, remained critical, a doctor attending on him said tonight.

"Laxman's condition is still critical," said Dr Sameer Jog told to PTI.

Laxman, 94, was admitted to the intensive care unit of the Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune for urinary infection on Saturday after which he underwent dialysis.

Meanwhile the hospital said in a release late tonight that "Laxman's medical condition still remains critical and he is on mechanical ventilator, on drugs to maintain his blood pressure as well as on Renal Replacement Therapy."
 

"He is admitted under Dr Sameer Jog (consultant intensivist) and Dr Aditya Bhabe (consultant nephrologist).

"Currently his medical condition is critical but he is holding on his vital parameters like pulse, blood pressure, oxygen, carbon dioxide, electrolytes and glucose concentrations in blood are stable. He is not in a conscious state. He is under close observation of Team of Intensivists in ICU," the statement said.
