Ruling CPI-M-led LDF in Kerala today condemned the attempt to 'manhandle' CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury in New Delhi.

In a resolution adopted at the Front meeting here, chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, the LDF said the attack on the CPI-M leader at the party office amounted to denying the freedom to function granted to political parties.

Talking to reporters after the meeting, Front convener Vaikom Viswam said the LDF would carry out a massive campaign against the "assault by sangh parivar activists."

"LDF has taken a strong stand against intrusion into the citizens' freedom of choice of food in the name of cow protection and denying freedom to ordinary people in Kashmir under the cover of animosity against Pakistan," the resolution said.

Two members of a fringe Hindutva outfit had barged into the CPI(M) headquarters in New Delhi yesterday and tried to "manhandle" Yechury.

On issue of ban on sale of cattle for slaughter, Viswam said the LDF would organise a march to Raj Bhavan here on June 22 and front workers would picket central government offices in other districts.
