LDF leaders, its MPs and MLAs would participate in the stir, Front Convener Vaikom Viswam said in a statement after a meeting of Front leaders here today.

LDF alleged spurt in price of foodgrains was due to the wrong policies followed by the UPA government at the Centre and UDF in the state.

Viswam alleged policies were in support of hoarders and black marketers and promote speculation.

Criticising UDF, he said LDF when in power effectively intervened in the open market through Civil Supplies Corporation and other government agencies to check price rise.

The UDF virtually destroyed the Public Distribution System taking away the ration subsidy, he charged.

The government also failed to take steps under Essential Commodities Act to prevent hoarding and black marketing of foodgrains, he alleged.

On the agriculture front, coconut farmers were not getting the price for their produce which they were getting 25 years ago, he claimed.

Instead of taking steps to provide relief to people, UDF government was actually trying to divert people's attention from these issues, he alleged.
