The Opposition CPI-M led Left Democratic Front in Kerala today said it would observe May 18, the second anniversary of Congress headed United Democratic Front government as 'betrayal' day, due to its 'complete failure' in all sectors.

In a statement, LDF convener Vaikom Viswam said UDF in its two year rule had obliterated the achievements made during the previous LDF regime.

He alleged that the UDF government was attempting to implement 'neo-liberal' economic policies of the UPA government at the Centre.

"The government failed to check the rise of essential commodities price and did not interfere in the market as done in previous times.

"Due to mismanagement, power cut and load shedding have returned to Kerala and power tariff was also increased," he said.

The public sector Kerala State Road Transport Corporation was on the brink of collapse, he said and alleged that efforts were on to privatise water supply and electricity board.

LDF workers would wear black badges and stage protest demonstrations across Kerala, he added.
