Lead down 0.5% on sluggish spot demand, global cues

Subdued demand, weak trend in base metals influenced lead prices at futures trade

Lead prices traded lower by 0.48% to Rs 123.85 per kg in futures trade today as speculators indulged in reducing exposures amid weak demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in October declined by 60 paise, or 0.48%, to Rs 123.85 per kg in a business turnover of 180 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in November traded lower by a similar margin to Rs 125 per kg in 22 lots.

Market analysts said besides subdued demand from battery makers in the spot market, a weak trend in base metals at the London Metal Exchange, mainly influenced lead prices at futures trade.
