Falling for the fourth straight day, lead prices fell further by 0.66 per cent to Rs 135.65 per kg in futures market today as speculators engaged in trimming their positions amid easing demand in the spot market.

Weak trend in base metals in overseas market also weighed on prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in June fell by 90 paise, or 0.66 per cent, to Rs 135.65 per kg, in a business turnover of 5,132 lots.

On similar lines, the metal for delivery in July traded lower by a similar margin to Rs 136 per kg in 95 lots.

Analysts said offloading of positions by participants due to sluggish demand from battery-makers in the spot market, mainly kept lead prices lower at futures trade.
