Lead futures gain 0.16% on upsurge in demand

Lead prices edged higher by 0.16 per cent to Rs 125.45 per kg in futures trade today as traders enlarged positions, tracking a firm trend at spot market on rising demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in August month traded higher by 20 paise, or 0.16 per cent to Rs 125.45 per kg in business turnover of 986 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in far-month September contracts edged up by 5 paise, or 0.04 per cent to Rs 126.25 per kg in 261 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in lead futures to rising demand from battery-makers in the spot market.
