Lead futures prices today rose by 0.55% to Rs 109.80 per kg as speculators enlarged positions amidst a firming trend overseas and rising domestic spot demand from battery-makers.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in February traded 60 paise, or 0.55%, higher at Rs 109.80 per kg, with a turnover of 370 lots, while delivery in March month contracts up by 55 paise, or 0.54%, to Rs 111.10 per kg in a turnover of 46 lots.
Marketmen said the rise in lead futures was mostly in line with a firming trend in base metals at the London Metal Exchange after manufacturing in China, the world's largest metals consumer, rebounded and demand from battery-makers at the domestic spot markets also witnessed a pick up.
