Lead prices edged up by 0.73 per cent to Rs 144.95 per kg in futures market Friday as speculators raised their bets, taking positive cues from spot market on uptick in demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in September rose by Rs 1.05, or 0.73 per cent to Rs 144.95 per kg in business turnover of 1210 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in October traded higher by 85 paise, or 0.59 per cent to Rs 146 per kg in 42 lots.

Analysts said widening of positions by traders after upsurge in demand from battery markers in the physical market, mainly influenced lead prices at futures trade.
