Lead futures remain up on rising demand

Rising for the second straight day, lead prices advanced by 0.21 per cent to Rs 143.05 per kg in futures market today as speculators engaged in enlarging their positions, taking positive cues from spot market on rising demand from consuming industries.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in November month moved up by 30 paise, or 0.21 per cent to Rs 143.05 per kg in business turnover of 208 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in December contracts was trading higher by 15 paise, or 0.10 per cent to Rs 143.70 per kg in 5 lots.

Market analysts said widening of positions by participants on the back of a firming trend overseas amid rising demand from battery-makers in the spot market mainly kept lead prices higher at futures trade.
