Lead prices were up by 0.33% to Rs 137.05 per kg in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions after demand from battery-makers picked up in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity exchange, lead for delivery in August edged higher by 45 paise, or 0.33%, to Rs 137.05 per kg in a business turnover of 403 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in September edged up by 35 paise, or 0.25%, to Rs 137.65 per kg in six lots.

Analysts said speculators built up fresh positions after demand from battery-makers increased in the spot market which mainly supported the upside in lead prices at futures trade.
