Lead prices edged higher by 0.81% to Rs 123.70 per kg in futures trade today as traders enlarged positions due to pick up in demand in the spot market amid a firm global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in August edged up by Re 1 or 0.81% to Rs 123.70 per kg in business turnover of 181 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in September traded higher by 95 paise or 0.77% to Rs 124.50 per kg in 4 lots.

Analysts said apart from a firm global trend, pick-up in domestic demand, mainly from battery-makers, attributed the rise in lead futures here.
