Lead prices moved up by 1.24 per cent to Rs 139.20 per kg in futures trading today as traders raised their bets on the back of upsurge in demand from battery-makers in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in December rose by Rs 1.70, or 1.24 per cent to Rs 139.20 per kg in a business turnover of 43 lots.

Also, the metal for delivery in November traded higher by Rs 1.45, or 1.06 per cent to Rs 138.50 per kg in 1,327 lots.

Market analysts said expanding positions by participants due to pick-up in demand from battery-makers in the spot market mainly led to the rise in lead prices at futures trade.
