Lead was up by one per cent to Rs 111.10 per kg in futures trade today as speculators enlarged positions amid demand at the domestic spot market and a firming global trend.

Lead for delivery in October edged higher by Rs 1.10, or 1 per cent, to Rs 111.10 per kg with a business turnover of 989 lots at the Multi Commodity Exchange.

Also, metal for delivery in November gained Re 1, or 0.90 per cent, at Rs 112.15 per kg in 10 lots.

Besides rising domestic demand, particularly from battery-makers, gains in the base metals pack at the London Metal Exchange supported the upside in lead prices in futures trade, analysts said.
