Lead sheds 0.22% on sluggish demand, overseas cues

Both Feb and March contracts down on low offtake from battery makers

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Lead prices slipped by 0.22 per cent to Rs 114 per kg in futures trading today due to sluggish demand from battery makers in the spot market amid a weak global trend.

At the Multi Commodity exchange, lead for delivery in February fell 25 paise, or 0.22 per cent, to Rs 114 per kg in a business turnover of 114 lots.

March lead slipped marginally by 10 paise, or 0.09 per cent, to Rs 115.20 per kg in three lots.

Market analysts said besides sluggish demand from battery makers in spot market, a weak trend in copper and other base metals at the London Metal Exchange kept pressure on lead prices at futures trade.
