Lead falls by 0.5% on muted demand

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Lead prices were down by 0.55% to Rs 11.15 per kg in futures trading today owing to sluggish demand from battery-makers in the spot market amid a weak global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in February eased by 65 paise, or 0.55%, to Rs 118.15 per kg, in a business turnover of 480 lots.

Metal for delivery in March shed 45 paise, or 0.38%, to Rs 118.90 per kg in one lot.

Market analysts said sluggish demand from battery-makers in the spot market amid a weak trend in the base metals pack at the London Metal Exchange on waning demand in China, the world's biggest consumer of metals, mainly kept pressure on lead prices at the futures trade.
