Lead softens 0.19% on sluggish demand

Traders pare positions on limited offtake from battery makers

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Lead prices weakened 0.19 per cent to Rs 134.35 per kg in futures trade today as speculators reduced positions, tracking a weak trend at spot market on subdued demand from battery-makers.

At the Multi Commodity exchange, lead for delivery in September declined by 25 paise, or 0.19 per cent to Rs 134.35 per kg in business turnover of 446 lots.

October lead traded lower by 15 paise, or 0.11 per cent to Rs 135.10 per kg in just one lot.

Analysts said speculators trimmed positions on the back of weak demand from battery-makers in the spot market, mainly led to the decline in lead prices at futures trade.
