Lead prices edged higher by 0.48 per cent to Rs 125.05 per kg in futures market today as speculators built up bets on the back of uptick in demand in the domestic spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in August month edged up by 60 paise, or 0.48 per cent to Rs 125.05 per kg in business turnover of 735 lots.

On similar lines, the metal for delivery in far-month September contracts traded higher by a similar margin to Rs 125.80 per kg in 73 lots.

Marketmen said fresh positions created by participants after pick-up in domestic demand, mainly from battery-makers, supported the upside in lead futures here.
