A firm trend in base metals overseas also supported prices

Lead futures gained 0.21% to Rs 119.50 per kg today on rising demand in spot markets and positive cues from global markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in January traded higher by 25 paise, or 0.21%, at Rs 119.50 per kg, with a turnover of six lots.

The metal for delivery this month also rose by 20 paise, or 0.17%, to trade at Rs 118.25 per kg, in a business turnover of 183 lots.

Analysts said besides strong demand from battery-makers, a firm trend in base metals overseas before US data projected to show goods orders expanded and the world's largest economy grew more than estimated in the third quarter, influenced lead prices at futures trade here.
