Lead prices traded higher by 0.58 per cent to Rs 165.45 per kg in futures market today as speculators built up positions, taking positive cues from the spot market on demand uptick.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in November rose 95 paise, or 0.58 per cent, to Rs 165.45 per kg in a business turnover of 832 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in December contracts was up by a similar margin at Rs 165.80 per kg in 17 lots.

Market analysts said widening of positions by traders after pick-up in demand from battery-makers in the physical market chiefly influenced lead prices in futures trade.
