Extending gains for the second straight day, lead prices advanced by 0.62 per cent to Rs 112.90 per kg in futures trade today as participants enlarged their positions on the back of rising demand from consuming industries in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in May gained 70 paise, or 0.62 per cent, to Rs 112.90 per kg in a business turnover of 1,083 lots.

In a similar fashion, the metal for delivery in far-month June contracts edged up by 65 paise, or 0.57 per cent, to Rs 113.70 per kg in 173 lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise in lead futures due to rising demand from battery-makers in the spot markets.
