Lead prices advanced by 0.64 per cent to Rs 156.60 per kg in futures trade today as speculators raised bets, driven by increased demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in March traded higher by Re 1, or 0.64 per cent, to Rs 156.60 per kg in a business turnover of 929 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in April edged up by a similar margin to Rs 156.95 per kg in 26 lots.

Market analysts said expanding of positions by traders on the back of surging demand from battery-makers in the physical markets kept lead prices higher in futures trade.
