Lead prices softened by 0.09 per cent to Rs 159.45 per kg in futures trade today today after participants trimmed their exposure amid subdued demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in February shed 15 paise, or 0.09 per cent to Rs 159.45 per kg in business turnover of 119 lots.

However, the metal for delivery in January contracts was trading steady at Rs 160.45 per kg in 359 lots.

Analysts said the fall in lead prices in futures trade to reducing of positions by participants on the back of muted demand from battery-makers in the spot market.
