Lead prices edged lower by 0.28 per cent to Rs 124.85 per kg in futures trading today as speculators booked profits at prevailing levels amid subdued demand from battery-maker in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in May eased 35 paise, or 0.28 per cent to Rs 124.85 per kg in business turnover of 2,854 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in June contracts traded lower by 30 paise, or 0.24 per cent to Rs 126.10 per kg in 198 lots.

Analysts attributed the weakness in lead futures to profit-booking by speculators at prevailing levels amid subdued demand from battery-maker in the spot market.
