Lead prices were up 0.31 per cent to Rs 111.75 per kg in futures trading today as speculators indulged in creating fresh position due to pick up in demand in the spot market.

However, a weak trend in the base metals pack at the London Metal Exchange (LME), limited the gains.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in May edged up 35 paise, or 0.31 per cent, to trade at Rs 111.75 per kg in a business turnover of 120 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in current month contracts traded higher by 30 paise, or 0.27 per cent at Rs 112.50 per kg in 40 lots.

Analysts said pick up in demand from battery makers at the domestic spot markets mainly influenced, lead prices at futures trade here.
