Leading designers roll out new fabrics in Bengal Fashion Week

Celebrated designers Jattinn Kochhar and Manoviraj Khosla rolled out new textured wears at the Bengal Fashion Week.

Kochhar's 'Run Away' creations, introduced here for the first time, were principally in black and grey shades and wowed the glitterati including local fashion fraternity.

He draped his leading model with a retro-feel Tulip gown to show today's fashion savvy generation are free to mix and match and experiment.

Kochhar said "Run Away" show encapsulated emotions and care freeness.

"I have brought the Run Away creations for the fashion savvy Kolkata audience. These are very classy with predominantly black and grey shades with hint of silver. These are very Zen colours," he later told the media after his show at KF Ultra Bengal Fashion Week 2.
 

Khosla's oeuvre was new fabrics bathed in bright colours - from orange to gold in single drapes in the show themed "Life".

"Fashion talks about celebrating life and having fun. Everytime I am here I see how style conscious people are in Kolkata are evolving. It is only that we need more such occasions to party," Khosla, who introduced upcoming Bollywood actor Sonnalli Seygall as the show-stopper, said.

Tollywood diva Rituparna Sengupta turned show-stopper for New York-based Sanjana John's show which was themed on Saving the Girl Child.

Looking elegant in sequined white, Rituparna gushed "I strongly connect with the theme and a message has to go from every platform - from a fashion show to a workshop. I am all for women's empowerment."

On the inaugural day of the three-day event on September 11, Sharbari Dutta rolled out her creations for men - kurta, sherwani, Nehru jacket and bandhgala range drawing from ancient literature, while Agnimitra Paul recreated the golden muslin era of Bengal in muted colours.

Bollywood actress Shraddha Das was the show-stopper for Dutta's creations at the concluding show.
