"The League has turned arrogant due to the power it wielded in the government and it had become forgetful of the fact that it was a political party and not a communal outfit," he told a press meet here.
"Things have reached such a pass that the IUML leaders and workers ignored the concerns of Congress, which heads the UDF," he said.
Referring to the alleged land scam in Calicut University, Vijayan demanded that the government should order a judicial probe into moves made by the university administration and a section of the syndicate members to gift large stretches of land to private trusts run by top IUML leaders.
He also demanded resignation of the university Vice-Chancellor Abdul Salam to step down to pave way for a free and fair probe.
The scandal pertains to an aborted move by a section in the university administration and syndicate to assign land forming part of its central campus to some private trusts with academic and sporting interests.
The IUML, which has five ministers in the UDF ministry and holds key portfolios like education, has come under attack over the alleged university land transfer move.

The syndicate proposal, which was opposed by Congress and LDF members, was later frozen with the issue snowballing into a controversy.
