LED tube lights, 5-star rated fans launched in Bihar

After the successful distribution of LED bulbs in Bihar, Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) today launched LED tube light and five-star rated energy efficient fans under Ujala scheme in Bihar.

Under the scheme, consumers would be able to buy five 20 watt LED tube lights at Rs 230 each and two five star rated energy efficient fans at Rs 1150 each, Raj Kumar Rakhra, national programme manager, Ujala, said at a function.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, asked people to switch off electronic gadgets when not in use to save energy.

"In our 'Saat Nischay' yojana, we have one scheme 'Har Ghar Bijli' as per which every household has to be provided power connection. I have asked people to use LED bulbs. Today energy efficient fan has been launched," he said.
 

EESL is a joint venture of NTPC Limited, Power Finance Corporation, Rural Electrification Corporation and POWERGRID.

In Bihar, EESL was planning to distribute 50 lakh 20 watt LED tube lights and two lakh star rated energy efficient fans to people on upfront payment, Rakhra said and added that it was estimated that over 10 lakh consumers would benefit from the scheme.
