The Left Front in West Bengal today demanded that the Justice Shyamal Kumar Sen Commission's report on Saradha chit fund scam be made public and criticised the decision to wind up the Commission.

"The Commision has submitted a report on Saradha chit fund scam to the government. The report should be made public. The people of Bengal want to know what the findings of the Commission are," Left Front chairman Biman Bose told reporters here.

Bose also flayed the decision to shut down the Commission.

"We condenm the decision to close down the Commission. No one has asked the state government to wind up the Commission, so why was it closed down? There was expectation among depositors that the Commission would return the money to defrauded investors," said Bose.

The Justice Shyamal Kumar Sen Commission, set up by the state government on April 24, 2013 after the Saradha Group went bust failing to pay back money to depositors, submitted a 404-page report on Wednesday.

The Commission was also entrusted to look into the cases of other ponzi scheme companies.

Commission officials said a total of Rs 287 crore was received from the state government to repay the duped investors.
