Left extreme activities on the decline: Minister

The government today said there has been a decline in Leftwing extremist activities as it was focussing on development works like roads and trying to enhance skills of youth in these areas.

During the Question Hour in Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Home Hansaraj Ahir said there has been a drop in Left extremist activities as the government was focussing on development and creating employment opportunities.

He however said that terrorist organisations were operating in Kashmir and security forces were working in this regard.

Ahir was responding to a question on the number of youths joining naxalism or terror outfits due to unemployment.
 

The minister said that no specific study has been conducted to ascertain the number of youths joining such organisations due to joblessness.
