Opposition Left Front members today staged a walk out from the West Bengal assembly following Speaker's rejection of admission of an adjourment motion on 'rising atrocities against women' brought by them.

At the end of the question hour, CPI(M) member Anisur Rahman sought a discussion on 'increasing incidents of rape and violence' inflicted on women in state and sought a reply from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who was not present in the house.

Speaker Biman Banerjee refused to admit the motion for discussion following which the Left Front members stood up and started shouting slogans holding placards in their hands.

Uproar continued during the mention hour till the agitating members left the house.

Meanwhile, in order to pacify the members, Speaker asked the Left Front to make a statement during the mention hour which was declined by them.
