The opposition Left Front today staged a walkout in the West Bengal Assembly protesting against rejection of an adjournment motion moved by them demanding discussion on charges against certain TMC MLAs.

Senior MLA of CPI(M) Anisur Rehman's adjournment motion was rejected by Speaker Biman Banerjee.

Just minutes after it was rejected, the Left MLAs shouted slogans and walked out of the House.

State Opposition leader Surjya Kanta Mishra later told reporters that the criminal charges against the MLAs of the ruling party deserve a discussion on the Assembly.

While referring to allegations against TMC MLA Monirul Islam from Birbhum district, Mishra said his name had been removed from the chargesheet submitted by the police, though it was in an FIR relating to killing of three persons.

Mishra also accused the police of not acting against those from the ruling party and recording false cases against leaders of the opposition parties.
