Addressing a mammoth gathering of the tribals organized by the tribal wing of the ruling CPI-M, Tripura Upajati Ganamukti Parishad (TUGMP) Sarkar said, people had heaved a sigh of relief following the end of three decade old insurgency and more than sixty per cent of development work had taken place in tribal and remote areas of the state.
"People have seen the quality of governance of both the Left Front and the Congress. When they are the best judge, we have no doubt that they would bring back the Left Front government in the state," Sarkar said.
"When the country is plunged into brazen corruption of the politicians and bureaucrats, when it is plundered by the imperialists and when FDI is cutting into the bread of poor, we need to form Left Front government, not only in Tripura but in the entire country," he said.
Tripura Industries and Commerce Minister Jiten chowdhury, also a prominent tribal leader of the state said that harmony of the tribal and non-tribal in the state would be able to foil any attempt of conspiracy by any quarter.
Assembly elections in Tripura is due in February next year.
