Top leaders of CPI(M) and CPI met here today and discussed several agitational programmes against the BJP-led government's policies and cooperation between the two major Left parties.

The meeting came in the backdrop of election of new General Secretaries of CPI(M) and CPI, Sitaram Yechury, and S Sudhakar Reddy, respectively, after the respective party Congresses.

Apart from Yechury and Reddy, the meeting was attended by Prakash Karat and S Ramachandran Pillai of CPI(M) and D Raja of CPI.

Raja told PTI that the leaders of the two parties also discussed the May 14 protest against land acquisition ordinance by the six Left parties.

He said both parties agreed to coordinate with each on such protest actions inside and outside Parliament. They also agreed to meet again and discuss other issues.
