Both the left parties -- CPI and CPI(M) have condemned the attack on CPI(M)'s general secretary Sitaram Yechury in New Delhi today.

In a joint press release, CPI state secretary K Ramakrishna and CPI(M) state general secretary P Madhu have appealed left, secular and democratic forces to condemn the attack in a single tone.

The Sangh Parivar workers barged into the CPI(M) central office though there was police security. It shows the inability and negligence of the government in protecting the national leaders, it said.

The CPI activists also burnt the effigy of BJP to protest police firing on farmers in Madhya Pradesh. The farmers were protesting to get minimum support price for their produce.

The left leaders criticised BJP for failing to fulfill its election promises in the last three years and said it was unable to bear criticism.

Two persons allegedly barged into the CPI(M) head office here and tried to manhandle party general secretary Sitaram Yechury.
