: The Dakshina Kannada District Legal Services Authority (LSA) has taken the lead to support non-motorised transport by observing World Car-Free Day on September 22.
The LSA, in association with Mangaluru BarAssociation, Mangalore Bicycle Club, Karnataka State PollutionControl Board, Mangaluru Lions Club and other governmentdepartments and institutions, will organise a bicycle rally on that day, a release here said.
Eminent personalities, including Judges and advocates, besides activists of various associations, will participate inthe rally.

The LSA has also decided not to limit the promotion of non-motorised transport to one day in a year and planned to make it a regular event by observing Car-Free Day on the third Saturday of every month from October.
The authority has urged all individuals not to use personalised modes of transport, namely, motorcycles and cars on that day and instead commute either by walk or bicycle forshort distances and public transport bus and train for longerjourneys.
It also asked heads of various departments,educational institutions and other organisations to createawareness among the members and encourage non-motorisedtransport, the release said.
