Legislative Council panel begins probe into JAKFED scam

The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council panel set up to probe alleged bungling and embezzlement of public money in the JAKFED today sought the official records from the state government.

The panel, which held its first meeting under the chairmanship of Khalid Najib Suharwardy here, sought detailed report of special audit and its outcome, the CAG report, action taken report and the Pillai Committee report.

It also sought copy of FIR along with names of the officers and suppliers allegedly involved in the scam.

The Committee directed administrative secretary of the cooperative department to produce all records relevant to the matter on or before April 24, official said.
 

The next meeting of the panel is scheduled on April 25.

On April 16, the Council had set up two panels to look into restoration of state properties outside the state and alleged bungling and embezzlement of public money worth crores of rupees in JAKFED.
