NPF Secretary General K G Kenye today claimed that under no circumstance can the legislature party elect the party whip because the chief whip is an appointed post which can only be done by the party president.
"Legislators can elect their legislative party leader but not the chief whip," he told reporters here.
Kenye, a Rajya Sabha MP alleged that "NLA Speaker had broke all Assembly Rule of business by accepting Zeliang as the NPF whip without even rejecting the appointment of Kiyanielie Peseyie as the Party Whip since November 2014."

On the claims of the NPF led by Lok Sabha MP Neiphiu Rio that over 32,000 party workers rejected Liezietsus presidentship during the general convention of the party held in Dimapur yesterday, Kenye said "even if they claim that there were over one lakh supporters rejecting Liezietsus leadership, but whether they were actual NPF party workers is questionable."
He said that actual list of active NPF party workers was submitted to the Election Commission of India (ECI) while the master register of the list of active NPF workers is in the NPF Central Headquarters in Kohima.
He also claimed that Rio and the 36 legislators were signatories in electing Liezietsu as the party president for the tenure 2015-20 during the NPF General Convention in November 2014, which has also been submitted to the ECI.
"They are trying to fool the Naga people with all the wrong moves but ECI cannot be fooled," Kenye said.
He claimed that all the meetings and decisions taken by the Rio and Zeliang led group claiming to be NPF Party is invalid and does not bear any cognizance.
Kenye appealed to all the rank and file of NPF not to panic but to remain firm on the party principle and ideology and stand strongly behind Liezietsu.
