Lending to minority communities in Haryana grew sharply with fresh credit flow to Muslims being maximum, according to a report.
As per the latest State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC) report, which reviewed banks performance for the period till September 2015, the total outstanding loan to minority communities in the state stood at Rs 9,086.77 crore to 7.59 lakh beneficiaries, up by 25 per cent over the amount during corresponding period last year.
The total outstanding loan to minority communities in Haryana was Rs 7,277.39 crore as on September 2014 which was 11 per cent higher than outstanding of corresponding period.

With new credit, the "total outstanding loans" to Muslim community was Rs 2,991.33 crore (3.35 lakh accounts) as on September 2015 as against loan of Rs 2,050.22 crore (2.90 lakh accounts) as on September 2014, as per report.
A sum of Rs 257.48 crore was extended as loan to Muslims as on September 2014 in comparison to previous year's outstanding loan.
Fresh lending to Sikhs which have sizeable population in Haryana was at Rs 771.59 crore with total outstanding loan of Rs 5,779.85 crore (4.16 lakh accounts) as on September 2015, which was 15 per cent more than the total outstanding loan of Rs 5,008.26 crore (3.69 lakh accounts) in corresponding period, as per report.
Lending to Christians in the state was Rs 9.04 crore with total outstanding loan of Rs 107.09 crore while Buddhists got loan of Rs 75 lakh as on September 2015 with outstanding amount of Rs 9.08 crore, as per report.
Lending to Jain community was Rs 86.17 crore with total outstanding of Rs 198.06 crore for the period ending September 2015.
Total outstanding to Zoroastrian was Rs 1.36 crore as on September 2015 as against total loan of Rs 64 lakh as on September 2014, as per report.
Banks were asked to extend more credit to minority communities for their economic development as 15 per cent of total priority sector advances should go to minority sector as per government of India, report said.
The total outstanding loan to minority communities in Haryana was Rs 9,086.77 crore during the review period which was 9 per cent of total priority sector loans.
