Chinese technology giant Lenovo today said it has seen shipments of Lenovo and Motorola handsets in India grow 63.2 per cent to over 8 million units in 2015.

This is against a shipment of about 4.9 million units in 2014.

"We have seen a phenomenal response from the Indian market and are among the leading players here. We have seen device shipments growing from 4.9 million in 2014 to 8 million-plus in 2015 (Lenovo and Motorola)," Lenovo India Director (Smartphones) Sudhin Mathur said here.

He added that a major chunk of the sales was coming from Motorola but declined to give specific details.

Lenovo had acquired Motorola Mobility in a USD 2.9 billion deal from tech giant Google in 2014.

India saw about 75 million devices being shipped in the January-September 2015 period.

According to research firm IDC, smartphone shipments in India jumped 21.4 per cent in the July-September quarter to 28.3 million units, buoyed by a three-fold jump in demand for 4G-enabled devices.

Samsung was the largest player with 24 per cent share of the smartphone market, followed by Micromax (16.7 per cent), Intex (10.8 per cent), Lenovo Group (Lenovo and Motorola) (9.5 per cent) and Lava (4.7 per cent).

Lenovo today launched a new device -- Vibe K4 Note -- equipped with its new TheaterMax feature, based on Virtual Reality technology.

The device will be available from January 19 through a flash sale model on eCommerce portal Amazon. In bundled with a VR Headset (Rs 12,499). The handset will also be available without the headset for Rs 11,999.

The TheaterMax feature converts any multimedia content to become immersive, giving users a virtual large screen cinematic experience when viewed through a VR headset.

"More than 50 per cent of digital content is consumed on mobile devices today, and smartphones continue to be peoples' primary personal entertainment device," Mathur said.

Lenovo TheaterMax, powered by Lenovo VR, sets the company apart as it meets the needs of consumers at an extremely friendly price-point, he added.

The K4 Note features a 5.5-inch display, 3GB RAM, octa-core processor, 16GB internal memory (expandable up to 128 GB), twin front ported stereo speakers enabled by Dolby Atmos, 13 MP rear and 5 MP front camera and 3,300 mAh battery.
Internet of Things: Demand for embedded Security rising

sharply Infineon leads the growing market for embedded security solutions with a market share of more than 31 percent (IHS, Embedded Digital Security Report 2016). Overall, the total market revenue is expected to increase from 708 million US dollars in 2015 to 829 million US dollars in 2020. This growth is driven primarily by the Internet of Things. Today alone, more than 500 million connected devices use security controllers from Infineon.

In addition to Lenovo, Infineon also supplies other industry giants such as Microsoft, Hewlett Packard and Samsung with embedded security. The OPTIGA product family provides different levels of security for electronic systems. The range comprises complex IT-infrastructures with many servers and computers to single systems consisting of the device and the suitable accessory, such as a MP3 player and headphones. The OPTIGA security chips are embedded in the electronic devices and authenticate the individual elements of the system. As security requirements vary depending on the application, Infineon offers different product families: OPTIGA TPM, for example, protects system integrity of connected devices and IT networks whereas O
