The leopard had recently attacked and injured two women tea pluckers at Chenijan tea estate and would regularly kill domestic animals in the nearby human habitations, forest department sources said.

It was caught at Chenijan Dulakathoria village and taken to the Centre for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation (CWRC) run by the Wildlife Trust of India at Panbari near Kaziranga National Park.

The wild cat sustained minor injuries as it attempted to escape from the cage, the sources said, adding, it would be kept at the CWRC for medical care before it is released in the wild.
