Leopard carcass found in Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve

A leopard was today found dead under Moharli range in Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) in the district.

The Beat Guard, along with his team, found the carcass of a full-grown leopard in compartment number 197 in Wadhala Beat in TATR buffer zone at about 4 PM, a release here said.

Upon receiving information, senior officials, including Deputy Director (Buffer), TATR, Gajendra Narwane, Honorary Wildlife Warden Bandu Dhotre and veterinary doctor Ravikant Khobragade reached the spot, it said.

The spot is close to one of the gates of the Irai dam and officials have been directed to inspect the surrounding area during day time tomorrow, it said.
 

The feline might have died 2-3 days ago and all its body parts were intact, it said.

The body has been brought to Rambagh Nursery here, and the postmortem would be conducted tomorrow, it said.
