Leopard drowns in U'khand

A leopard died after being swept away by strong currents of a river in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, an official said today.

Carcass of the leopard was found buried in sand near the confluence of Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers in Nandprayag yesterday, Assistant conservator of forest, Badrinath forest division S Suman said.

Preliminary examination suggests that the big cat died of drowning, he said.
