A leopard entered a house in Mohdand village in Peint taluka of the district, where villagers trapped it and was later rescued by the forest department, officials said today.

The leopard first attacked one Hemraj Pawar in the village and later entered another person's residence this morning.

The villagers sprung into action and closed the door of the house from outside. Later they informed the forest officials about it.

The forest department came to the site and tranquilised the leopard by shooting an injection through an airgun. The wild animal was then taken to Nashik.

The 32-year-old Hemraj Pawar, who received minor injuries in the leopard attack, is being treated at a primary health centre in Ambe village, they said.
